Spinnaker tape

For over ten years now the tape has been used worldwide on boats, ranging from dinghies to large sailing yachts. The tape was also used by the Itlian syndicate of PRADA, participating in the latest America's Cup, where they won the Louis Vuitton Cup and competed for the Cup's final. All the light spinnakers and gennakers were glued with this tape.

The tape is simle and quickly assembled and will not be affected by sunlight or any other (severe) weather circumstances.

It is of great importance that when you are using the spinnaker tape, you adhere to the foloowing rules:

• keep the material free of grease
• do not touch the parts which have to be fixed to each other
• equally apply pressure using a roller
• leave the spinnaker at rest for 24 hours gbefore use.

The advantages of a taped seam over a stitched seam are:

• a taped seam will weigh less and is smoother and their fore forces will be divided more equally
• the elasticity ot the tape seam will be almost as the elasticity of the sailcloth
• the efficiency of the spinnaker will be much better, because by using C3 tape you will be able to make a better "spinnaker shape" than by being restricted to the sewing machine
• the tape is much quicker to apply than going through the sewing process and it is therefore a costsaving operation
• use of the C3 tape enables you to adjust your spinnaker to match the requirements of your vessel perfectly
• by using theC3 tape your sail will become absolutely air tight

During sea going trails it has been proven that:

• the spinnaker cloth will deform or tear quicker if it is stitched in comparising with taping
• stitching is in fact perforationg the sail e.g. decreasing it's performance
• if you put tension on the cloth the stitched threads will cut the sail like razorblades.
